Tuition Options

Tuition is often exam and assessment orientated. We achieve regular success in helping children through entrance assessments to top academic institutions, whether they are Westminster, Cambridge or Harvard.

Our tutors are either young graduates from top universities, or professional teachers. Trained in curricula and tutoring techniques, they have the sensitivity to adapt their methods to the unique way in which each student learns.

We have particular expertise in preparing children for entry tests to a wide range of schools (at ages 8, 11 and 13), GCSE, A Level and IB. Our tutors can work with the new school when children move from abroad or are at a difficult stage. A crucial part of our tutoring is to build up your child’s confidence which can pay dividends at school entry assessments interviews.

Bonas MacFarlane offers four main different types of tuition:

London Tuition

Bonas MacFarlane has a large number of tutors situated in different parts of the capital who can travel to suit your individual needs.

Tuition takes place on an hourly basis. We find that it is best suited taking place after school or at the weekends.

Holiday Tuition

Although based in central London, we have tutors who are able to travel beyond the capital to tutor children during the school holidays.

Holiday Tuition takes place on a daily basis. We find that between two and five hours a day of tuition mixed in with sports, creative activities and supervision creates a balanced learning schedule during the holidays.

Home Schooling

Parents may request a period of home schooling to assist in catching up or because a school place in not available. We have experienced tutors who can live with or nearby the family and provide a full home school curriculum and program of activities.

We find that a period of home schooling (for perhaps six months to a year) can be an excellent way of demonstrating to children that learning is a life long process that can be just as dynamic and fulfilling outside the classroom as within the strictures of a school environment. The individually tailored focus of private tuition means that children tend to make faster progress than they do at school.

Full-time Residential Tuition

School holidays present the perfect opportunity to catch up on missed school work as well as allowing children to ably prepare for the forthcoming term.

Bonas MacFarlane Tutors often stay with families during school holidays. Mornings are spent focusing on academic needs, leaving time for creative activities and sports during the afternoon.
